Awards & Scholarships

The TEP Foundation, Inc. has various Awards & Scholarships available for our valued undergraduate Brotherhood!

2023-2024

THE AL VERSACCI LEADERSHIP AWARD ($1000)

This award was established and partially funded by The TEP Foundation in honor of Alfred C. Versacci. Awarded to the undergraduate who best exemplifies and embodies the life legacy of Al Versacci, past Consul of Tau Epsilon Phi (1981-1983) and past President of The TEP Foundation, Inc (1983-1989). Eligible candidates must display spectacular service to his Chapter, outstanding leadership skills, strong sense of integrity, tremendous resiliency, acts as a mentor, makes a meaningful change, and has tangible results for his efforts. Awarded biennially during off-year from National Convention.

SIDNEY SUNTAG SCHOLARSHIP ($600)

The Board of Trustees established this award to honor beloved Executive Secretary Emeritus Sidney Suntag. Sidney, a.k.a “The Bald Eagle” served as the Executive Secretary for 33 years continuously. After he retired, he stayed involved with the national fraternity until his passing in 1990. Formerly known as the Suntag Scholar Award. Eligible candidates must be a recent graduate continuing their education who displays outstanding leadership and organizational qualities. Recipient will apply their knowledge as a Graduate Advisor should an active group exist on campus. This is awarded biennially in the off year from the Grand Chapter and Convention.

JONAS SALK AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE ($TBD)

The Board of Trustees established this award in honor of Brother Dr. Jonas Salk (Honorary). Brother Salk is famously credited as inventor of the revolutionary Polio Vaccine. As a world renowned scientist, academic, and researcher is universally recognized for his advancements in modern medicine. Awarded to an undergraduate who displays tremendous academic success highlighted by their cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Eligible candidates must apply through our web port and selected by Foundation Award's Committee. This award is given out biennially during convention year. 

I. "DOC" SCHWARTZ UNDERGRADUATE OF THE YEAR ($500)

This award is funded by The Foundation and named in honor of Alpha #1, our first Founding Father, Brother Israel “Doc” Schwartz. Awarded to the Fraternity’s outstanding undergraduate. This prestigious honor is given to the man who, in the eyes of the Award’s Committee, best exemplifies the spirit of the philosophy and creed as first envisioned in 1910 by the Founding Fathers of the fraternity. Awarded biennially during Convention year. 

BRUCE ROSENSTEIN BRIDGE BUILDER AWARD ($450)

The Board of Trustees accepted a new scholarship funded by the Epsilon Nu Alumni  (RIT). Awarded to an undergraduate who best embodies the life and legacy of Brother Bruce "Tank" Rosenstein (Epsilon-Nu). Eligible candidates must have tangible results for their efforts in promoting precepts of the Bridge Builder within Chapter or Post-Graduation. This is awarded biennially during Convention year.

WILL GOTTHELD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($400)

The Board of Trustees accepted a new scholarship funded by the Gottheld Family. Awarded to an undergraduate who displays tremendous leadership skills, acts as a mentor for his Chapter, promotes values of Friendship, makes tangible contributions to Community, active in Campus Sports or Intramural, and maintains at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA. This is awarded biennially during Convention year.

JOHN LINDSAY CHIVALRY AWARD ($TBD)

The Board of Trustees created a new scholarship in honor of Brother, Trustee Emeritus, and Founder of The 1910 Foundation at Rutgers-Camden John Lindsay (Sigma-Epsilon). Awarded to an undergraduate who best displays Tau Epsilon Phi's Founding Pillar of Chivalry. Eligible candidates must have  tangible results for their efforts through the promotion, education, and/or demonstration of "Chivalry."  This is awarded biennially during Convention year. 

STANLEY I. SCHACTHER SCHOLARSHIP ($300)

The Board of Trustees established this award to honor Brother Stanley Schachter (Alpha Chapter). Awarded to an undergraduate who best exemplifies the ideals of the Creed of Tau Epsilon Phi – Friendship, Chivalry, Service. Eligible candidates must be nominated by their Chapter. This is awarded biennially during Convention year.

SENIOR LEADER SCHOLARSHIP ($250)

This award is funded by The Foundation. Awarded to the undergraduate who has distinguished himself in his Chapter. Eligible candidates must be in their Junior or Senior year to apply. This is awarded bienially during Convention year.

EMERGING LEADER SCHOLARSHIP ($150)

This award is funded by The Foundation. Awarded to the undergraduate who has distinguished himself in his Chapter. Eligible candidates must be in their Sophomore or Freshman year to apply. This is awarded biennially during Convention year.

LAWRENCE S. BERLER LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP ($100)

The Board of Trustees accepted a new scholarship funded by the Berler Family to honor Brother Lawrence Berler (Epsilon-Gamma). Awarded to an undergraduate who has distinguished himself in his Chapter for their achievements. Eligible candidates must be a “Legacy” of Tau Epsilon Phi. This is awarded biennially during Convention year.
